AzureB is a cationic dye (cationicdye), the main metabolite of Methyleneblue, which is used in Azure Eosin stain for blood smear staining. AzureB is a highly potent, selective and reversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase (MAO)-A, with IC50s of 11 and 968 nM for recombinant human MAO-A and MAO-B, respectively. AzureB has significant antidepressant effects.
